What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (“CBD”) is a naturally occurring plant-derived cannabinoid found in the cannabis sativa L plant species, which includes the strains of hemp and marijuana. CBD is the most abundant cannabinoid in hemp and has the potential of providing many therapeutic benefits, including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and relaxing properties.
How is CBD different from marijuana?
Short answer: Marijuana gets you high, CBD from hemp does not.
Both hemp and marijuana contain CBD and THC. Hemp is high in CBD and low in THC (the stuff that gets you high), whereas marijuana is low in CBD and high in THC. CBD hemp plants contain less than 0.3% THC, whereas marijuana contains 4-40% THC. CBD derived from hemp provides the therapeutic benefits without the euphoria associated with marijuana.
